Community Outreach/Nutrition Education |
| Description: |
|
Registered/Licensed Dietitians/Nutritionists provide services in the Durham Community to promote health and wellness. Nutritionists coordinate community-wide health and nutrition initiatives, create and provide innovative classes and programs, assist in the development of work-site wellness programs, and provide nutrition displays for health fairs and related events. The DINE for LIFE program targets limited-resource audiences in various community sites (senior centers, churches, housing developments, homeless shelters, etc.) A nutrition newsletter is sent to all food stamp households in Durham County on a quarterly basis, and key health messages are posted on local buses. Community Nutritionists partner with local community agencies and the local media (newspapers, radio, television) to enhance services offered |
