Durham, N.C. – On Monday, August 24,
2009, Tax Administrator Kimberly Simpson announced that Appraisal Division
Manager, Teresa Hairston has been promoted to Deputy Tax Administrator.
“Teresa has
been a key part of the success of Durham County’s Office of Tax Administration
and we are pleased that she will fill this important position” said Simpson.
Teresa
Hairston joined the Durham County Tax Administration Office in 1993 as a data
entry specialist. Prior to her
recent promotion, she held the positions of residential tax appraiser, mass
appraisal specialist and appraisal division manager. In her most recent position she directed
the Real Property Appraisal Division workgroups- Annual and General
Reappraisal.
“I am honored
to have been chosen for this position and look forward to working with the
wonderful staff in Tax Administration to serve the citizens of Durham County,”
said Hairston.
Hairston holds
the North Carolina Association of Assessing Officers designation of Certified
North Carolina Appraiser for Real Property and Tangible Personal Property and is
a North Carolina Department of Revenue Certified County Appraiser. She is a member of North Carolina
Association of Assessing Officers and International Association of Assessing
Officers. Hairston’s promotion was
effective August 24, 2009.
