– The Durham County Board of Commissioners met in a regular session on Monday,
September 28, at 7 p.m., and considered an agenda that included the following
highlights:
The
Board approved a resolution for the Durham Bulls Baseball Team for winning the
2009 Triple-A National Championship and 2009 Governors' Cup. Mr. George Habel,
Vice President and General Manager received the resolution and displayed the
team's trophy for Commissioners.
The
Commissioners Community Circle Award was presented to Alliance of AIDS Services
for their efforts to provide positive change in the lives of Durham County
citizens living with HIV/AIDS and their families. John Paul Womble, Interim Executive
Director, received the honor.
The
Commissioners approved a construction for project for Durham Public Schools/Neal
Middle School in the amount of $6,850,203 for renovations.
On
August 28, the North Carolina Association of County Commissioners recognized the
Durham County Tax Department's Remote Tax Kiosk for with its annual Productivity
Award. Kim Simpson and members of the Tax Department were recognized for the
honor by the Board of County Commissioners.
