– The Durham County Board of Commissioners met in a regular session on Monday,
October 12, at 7 p.m., and considered an agenda that included the following
highlights:
The
Board of Commissioners conducted a public hearing and voted to enter into an
economic development incentive contract with EMC Corporation for a maximum
amount of $1,200,000 over seven years. EMC is a developer and provider of
information infrastructure technology, solutions and services. Of the funds,
$200,000 would be reserved to pay for training expenses of employees who are
Durham residents.
County
Commissioners approved a construction for project for Durham Public
Schools/Shepard Middle School Addition and Renovations in the amount of
$8,255,600.00. The project is set
for completion by August 2011.
Funds were originally approved in the 2003 Bond
Referendum.
The
Board conducted public hearings on a Plan Amendment for the Jordan Lake Critical
area and a Zoning Map Change for the Jordan Lake Critical area. The Board
approved both items related to Jordan Lake. The Zoning Map Change is for
approximately 835 acres, generally west of NC 751, east of Farrington Mill Road,
south of Stagecoach Road and north of the Chatham County line, and between NC 55
and Hopson Road and north of the Wake County Line.
